Families Urged To Take Good Care Of Their Children Against All Odds

Communications trainer and corporate MC, Kafui Dey has urged families especially parents to take very good care of their children and also provide them with the necessary things in order for them not to end up in the street.
He made this known at the 3rd mentorship program for single mothers organized by Save a child foundation, a non-governmental organization.

which is aimed at curbing the menace of streetism in Ghana.
As part of efforts to curb the menace of streetism in Ghana, the foundation has held a mentorship series which is targeted at single parents who have no sustainable source of income.
It is expected to motivate them to work hard to take care of their children to keep them off the streets.
A Multimedia Broadcast Journalist, Prince Appiah who was part of the speakers said some got overwhelmed by their situation but he on the other hand soldiered on despite his predicament.
Miss Sonia Laryea, the Brong Ahafo Regional Manager for Max International said even though she was raised by a single mother, the challenges she encountered never stopped her from pursuing her goals in life.
All the speakers shared inspiring stories to encourage parents never to give up.
The founder of the NGO, Miss Janet Abena Quainoo noted that Streetism has been a major challenge in the country which needs urgent attention.
She urged all to come on board to tackle the issue.
” These are our future leaders and if we continue to Ignore them, the country will suffer the consequences because most of them are learning bad traits such as smoking and stealing among others.
If society looks away , they might become armed robbers and kidnappers in the future as we all suffer the consequences, she stressed.Miss Quainoo said the mentorship is a way of encouraging single Parents to work hard Inspite of any challenges they face to be able to cater for their children so that these children will not end up on the streets due to lack of parental care.
She said skills training will be organized for the parents after the Mentorship. She appealed to stakeholders and other corporate bodies to support the initiative to enable them equip more women with vocational skills which is third way of dealing with Streetism in the country.
