A Walk Against Streetism
The Save a Street Child Foundation organized a Walk Against Streetism on September 2nd, 2017 to raise awareness among the public and government about the hazards of streetism. Following that, a health screening exercise was scheduled for the children.
During the screening, doctors diagnosed some of the children with major health issues that required immediate medical attention.
One of the children , Hakim Alimeyahu, was discovered laying unwell on the street.
He was transported to the GBC clinic for treatment, where the resident doctor diagnosed him with an acute kidney infection.
He was treated and discharged, with all expenses covered by the foundation.
The team brought Hakim to DOVSU, where he was referred to social welfare for a temporary stay at the Osu Children’s Home while the team searched for his family. Unfortunately, he fled the shelter, and after several publications and radio and television notices, Hakim’s father was located and reunited with his son.
He is currently enrolled in school to pursue his dream of becoming a physician.
